For JSyn Plugins on Macintosh with Internet Explorer or iCab
Known Bugs
There are no known bugs specific to using JSyn under IE on the Macintosh.
Troubleshooting
If IE or iCab cannot find a JSyn class, then please check the following:
-
Did you run the installer by double clicking on the "InstallJSynForMRJ"
icon?
-
Is there a folder called "MRJ Libraries" in your "System Folder:Extensions"
folder? If not, then you should download MRJ from Apple at "http://developer.apple.com/java/classic.html".
-
Is there a file called "JSynNative" in your "System Folder:Extensions:MRJ
Libraries" folder? If not then the installation failed. Please report this
to SoftSynth.com.
-
Is there a file called "JSynClasses.jar" in your "System Folder:Extensions:MRJ
Libraries:MRJClasses" folder? If not then the installation failed. Please
report this to SoftSynth.com.
-
Are the files "npjsyn" or "npjsyn.jar" installed in the"Plug-ins"
folder for Netscape? If so, please move them out of the Netscape
folder. IE tries to use them and gets confused.
-
Did you restart your browser after installing JSyn?
If you still have problems make sure you have the most recent versions
of JSyn, MRJ and the browser.
Turning on the Java Console
You can get more information and error messages from the browser if you
enable the Java Console. Please cut and paste these error messages when
reporting bugs.
To enable the Java Console for Internet Explorer V4.5, select the "Preferences"
Item from the "Edit" menu. Select "Java" from the "Web Browser" section
and check "Log Java Messages" and "Log Java Exceptions". Then select "Java
Messages" from the View menu.
To enable the Java Console for iCab, select "Java/InScript Messages"
from the View menu. The iCab browser is highly recommended and is available
at: http://www.icab.de/
