  1. Close the patch window from the previous page by clicking in its top right corner.
  2. Click on the "TopPatch" window.
  3. Connect the "*" port on the knob to the frequency port on the patch.
  4. Connect the output of your patch to the input of the "lineOut" unit. You should see this:

  5. Move the frequency knob and hear it change the pitch. The frequency setting travels through the frequency port into the subpatch. The audio output travels from the oscillator in the patch through the output port to the lineOut.
  6. Click on the "Play Keys" button at the top of the patch window.
  7. Play the circuit by hitting the keys "zaq1mju7" and the keys between. The notes are the C major scale over four octaves. When a key is hit, frequency and amplitude information is sent to any InputPorts named exactly "frequency" and "amplitude". Envelopes and samples in the patch are also triggered.
